一、换驾照旧证必须收回吗
1、换领驾驶证时，必须收回旧证，机动车驾驶人应当在驾驶证有效期届满三个月内，向机动车驾驶证签发地车管所申请换发。在机动车驾驶证十年有效期内，每个计分周期未满12分的，基于良好表现的车主可以发放长期有效的机动车驾驶证。
2、法律依据：《机动车驾驶证申领和使用规定》第六十二条
机动车驾驶人在机动车驾驶证的六年有效期内，每个记分周期均未记满12分的，换发十年有效期的机动车驾驶证；在机动车驾驶证的十年有效期内，每个记分周期均未记满12分的，换发长期有效的机动车驾驶证。
第六十三条
机动车驾驶人应当于机动车驾驶证有效期满前九十日内，向机动车驾驶证核发地或者核发地以外的车辆管理所申请换证。申请时应当确认申请信息，并提交以下证明、凭证：
（一）机动车驾驶人的身份证明；
（二）医疗机构出具的有关身体条件的证明。
二、驾驶证换证的流程是什么
1、带上驾驶证原件，身份证；
2、在交警大队换证窗口领取换证申请表。可以咨询工作人员填写那些资料；
3、交警大队缴费窗口缴纳体检费60元左右。换证工本费10元，数码照像费20元；
4、然后拿上缴费单去体检，照像；
5、最后回到原来换证窗口领取新证。
