释义	1.如果是没有掌握犯罪事实，只是找人调查取证，一般不超过12个小时，但是并没有严格的法律界定。 2.如果是已经掌握部分犯罪事实，专业术语称之为“留置”。依据《中华人民共和国监察法》，纪委调查情况时，对于人员的“留置”时限最长为六个月。法律依据：《中华人民共和国监察法》第四十三条留置时间不得超过三个月。在特殊情况下，可以延长一次，延长时间不得超过三个月。省级以下监察机关采取留置措施的，延长留置时间应当报上一级监察机关批准。监察机关发现采取留置措施不当的，应当及时解除。
