法律分析：初次领证日期到次年对应日期为一个记分周期，以此类推一年为一个记分周期；在一个记分周期内记分没满12分，下个记分周期开始时原有记分自动清零，也就是恢复12分。道路交通安全违法行为累积记分周期(即记分周期)为12个月，满分为12分，从机动车驾驶证初次领取之日起计算，如此类推不断地循环。驾驶证的清分时间是驾驶证上的发证日期，每年在发证日期那天系统自动清分。从驾驶证的“初次领证日期”起算，一年为一个记分周期，如此类推不断地循环。
法律依据：《机动车驾驶证申领和使用规定》
第六十五条 道路交通安全违法行为累积记分周期（即记分周期）为12个月，满分为12分，从机动车驾驶证初次领取之日起计算。依据道路交通安全违法行为的严重程度，一次记分的分值为：12分、6分、3分、2分、1分五种。
第六十九条 机动车驾驶人在一个记分周期内记分未达到12分，所处罚款已经缴纳的，记分予以清除；记分虽未达到12分，但尚有罚款未缴纳的，记分转入下一记分周期。
