释义	法律分析：租房子不签合同是违法的。因为出租人出租房屋必须在签订合同后，办理备案登记。法律依据：《商品房屋租赁管理办法》第十四条房屋租赁合同订立后三十日内，房屋租赁当事人应当到租赁房屋所在地直辖市、市、县人民政府建设（房地产）主管部门办理房屋租赁登记备案。房屋租赁当事人可以书面委托他人办理租赁登记备案。《中华人民共和国民法典》第七百零七条租赁期限六个月以上的，应当采用书面形式。当事人未采用书面形式，无法确定租赁期限的，视为不定期租赁。
