释义	一般情况下，污点证人是特殊证人，属于犯罪活动的参与者。有犯罪污点，通过给国家的公诉机关作证，来换取免受刑事追诉或减轻、从轻指控的待遇。在中国大陆上，污点证人也可以被叫做犯罪嫌疑人戴罪立功，检举揭发，争取宽大处置，减刑或缓刑。法律依据：《中华人民共和国刑法》第六十八条犯罪分子有揭发他人犯罪行为，查证属实的，或者提供重要线索，从而得以侦破其他案件等立功表现的，可以从轻或者减轻处罚;有重大立功表现的，可以减轻或者免除处罚。
