暑期工是需要签合同的。签合同是为了保障自身的合法权益。首先我们需要确认签订合同，其次是短期的劳动合同。如果不签订合同就很难证明自己，已经跟用工单位发生了劳动关系，如果企业不付你薪资的话，是很难追究用工单位责任的。所谓的劳动合同，主要是指用人单位，包括企业，或者事业，或者国家机关的，社会团体等组织的，同劳动者之间确定劳动关系，明确相互的权利和义务的协议，就叫劳动合同。《中华人民共和国劳动合同法》第七条，用人单位自用工之日起即与劳动者建立劳动关系。用人单位应当建立职工名册备查。
