释义	法律分析：视情况而定。父亲负有债务，但是父亲在偿还债务之前死亡，而其子作为继承人继承了其父亲的合法遗产，其子应当以遗产实际价值为限偿还父亲的债务。否则子女没有义务代替父亲偿还债务。法律依据：《中华人民共和国民法典》第一千一百六十三条既有法定继承又有遗嘱继承、遗赠的，由法定继承人清偿被继承人依法应当缴纳的税款和债务；超过法定继承遗产实际价值部分，由遗嘱继承人和受遗赠人按比例以所得遗产清偿。
