合同续签和合同延期都不是法律概念，日常中大家一般是这样使用，比如合同期为一年，到期后延长1个月的叫合同延期，到期后按照原来的期限延长一次的叫合同续签。一般续签合同是可以提前，具体提前多久则会根据实际的情况来定
法律依据：
《中华人民共和国民法典》 第四百六十五条 依法成立的合同，受法律保护。依法成立的合同，仅对当事人具有法律约束力，但是法律另有规定的除外。
